Writing Challenge

Hi guys today in WGA we watched a short film called "Geri's Game", the short film was about an old man playing chess against himself. You also had to write it in the way script's are written.

The dull green bench had leaves on it because it was Autumn. Someone then blew away the leaves from the table. He slams his bony hands against the bench and pulls out a chess board. He then sets up the chess board.

Geri 1 : Alright, lets play a game of chess, whoever wins gets to keep the dentures.
Geri 2 : Okay ill play I know i'm gonna win anyways.

Geri 1 makes his first move shortly after that Geri 2 follows after. They keep on making moves until Geri 2 makes a move the takes down one of Geri's 1 Pawns. Geri 2 carries on taking out Geri 1's chess pieces every time he takes a piece down  he starts to laugh. Now there is only one left. Geri 1 get's an idea, he then falls of his chair. Geri 2 then gets worried and looks under the table.

Geri 2 : Geri?, you okay?

Geri 1 then gets up quickly and switches the sides of the board, Geri 1 now looks like he is winning and Geri 2 is losing. Geri 2 gets back up from looking under the table.

Geri 2: You okay Geri?
Geri 1 : Haha, yes i'm fine but look at the board you are losing.

Geri 2 is confused he looks and sees that he has one piece left. It was Geri 1's turn, Geri 1 then puts a piece right next to Geri 2's last piece. Geri 2 has an angry and confused look on his face, since it was Geri 2 last turn he then flicked over his last piece. Geri 2 then takes out the dentures and gives it to Geri 1, Geri 1 puts the dentures in and then starts to laugh at Geri 2.

Mercury - Science

Hi guys today in science we are doing some research on Mercury and we were doing some questions. here the are you hope enjoy.
The main reason why Mercury lost most of its atmosphere is because there is something called the solar wind that  blew away most of Mercury's atmosphere away and it has low gravity and low mass.
This is the comparing of how close Mercury and the Earth is from the sun, The earth is 150 million km away from the sun and Mercury is 57.714 million km.
The mass on Mercury is way less than Earth, for an example is Earth has 1 mass then Mercury would have 0.055 on Mercury.
Not having an atmosphere affects the temperature on Mercury is that it can change which means it can dip as low as -290F ( -180C ), it can also be very hot. The good thing for having an atmosphere that it wont change from really really hot and really really cold.
* Bonus Question *
The name Mercury came from the Roman's and its named after the messengers for their gods.

Hi guys today in maths(hurumanu 6) we were working on a task on can we afford a class pet?, There was a list of pets and their cost, we couldn't afford any of them, we could afford everything but one of animal if we didn't buy any of the setup things. Here is the slide that I worked on with Carla.

100 Word Challenge

Hi guys today in Wananga we had  to do the 100 word challenge, you either had to look at a picture or you could listen to music. I listened to the music here is my 100 Word Challenge

You wake up in an all white room, you look around everything is
pure white, there is no furniture in the room at all. But there’s a mirror.
You sit up and walk slowly to the mirror. You see yourself but it's just your shadow,
you touch the mirror, your hand gets engulfed inside, you pull your hand out.
Your hand was neon purple with streaks of neon blue. The blue streaks start to form the shape of a wave,
the neon purple shapes into a rock and the blue is the waves crashing up against it. You get distracted.

Science - Gravity

Hey guys today we are doing science, we have a few questions to ask and here they are.

Gravity is not the same on all planets because of the sizes. Gravity is related to mass by is there's more mass there is more gravity.If you take the weight of a 30kg Labrador Retriever you can weigh yourself in other planets, here is the what the dog feels like on different planets to highest to lowest. Jupiter - 70.2, Neptune - 33.6, Saturn - 27.9, Uranus - 27.6, Venus - 27.3, Mars - 11.4, and Mercury - 11.3, but your mass doesn't change, the only part that changes is your weight force. How my life would be different if i lived on a different planet with higher gravity and a planet with lower gravity is that if i was on a higher gravity planet that you would be weighed down more and it would be harder to run jump and do things, but if I was on a planet with lower gravity you wouldn't be weighed down more and you would be able to jump higher and do things easier but you wouldn't be weighed down as much as would if you were on a planet with higher gravity.

Needs vs Wants

Sphero - Science

Hi guys today in science we were working with a robot called Sphero, I was working in a group with Casey and Shanaya we named our robot Wall-e because of the robot rover. The task was that we had to make some obstacle for our Sphero but the Sphero couldn't go over the objects so it was a obstacle coarse. We used the Drive and Draw programme. How we drove the Sphero was that you had to steer it around, for the drawing one we draw something on the Ipad and it would drive around on what you drew.

Parihaka DLO

Hi guys today and yesterday we have been doing reading on some history in the past, the main thing is Passive Resistance Passive resistance is when you have different arguments but without using violence, Passive Resistance is mostly used during protests, here is my DLO/Slide hope you enjoy!.

Art Competition Kahui Pride

Hi guys yesterday we were drawing something for the art competition for house points. What you had to draw was something to do with Hornby Pride or Kahui Pride, what I did was that I drew a Tieke bird for kahui pride. I did a little sketch of a Tieke bird sitting on a stump. Here is a picture on what I did. Is there anything I can improve on?. Hope you enjoy.

Mars Perseverance Mission

Hi guys today in science we are doing some more research on the mission going to Mars. We have to answer some questions so here they are.

The rocket Perseverance used to get into space is called Alliance Atlas V.
The two vehicles that are being taken to Mars is The Rover Perseverance and the other is called Ingenuity which is a mini helicopter which is kind of a drone. The Rover has wheels and it drives around, it will take pictures and take samples from Mars and sending it to earth. The helicopter is not like the Rover because the helicopter has propellers and it will travel around Mars and its similar to a drone. The mission plans is to have the Rover land in the Jezero Crater which used to be a lake 3.5 billion years ago. The Rover is looking for past Martian Life in the Jezero Crater and getting some samples. How the Rover will land without being damaged is that they can use a parachute so it wont be damaged, and also there is a crane that will lower it down slowly so it wont be damaged.

StarryTeller - Letter to the Mars Desert Research Center

Hi guys today in Science we read a story called StarryTeller, in the book she went to a place called the Mars Desert Research Center. The Mars Desert Research Center is a place that has a similar  enviro-nment to Mars, astronauts go here so they get a feeling that is similar to when or if they are going to Mars. The task for today is that if you have finished your questions you have to write a letter to the Research Center explaing why you would be a good person to go to their programme.

Dear, Mars Desert Research Center

I think I would be a good person to choose for the programme you're doing. Here are some reasons on why I would be a good person. The first reason is that I am a good person to do chores, I'm a good team player because I have good ideas and I like to listen to others and what they have to say. I can admit to my mistakes that I have done, I'm willing to learn more about Mars and space. Some personal skills that I have is that I like to help others in anyway I can.

StarryTeller - Science

Hi guys today in science we read a book called StarryTeller there was three questions that we had to answer in full sentences. Here are them with the answer , hope you enjoy.

Some things that happen in the Mars Desert Research Center is that the environment is similar  to Mars six people stay at the station for 2 weeks, they learn about how it might will feel to live on Mars. The also studied Biology, Geology, and Astronomy. Haritina found it difficult being at the research center because it felt like a new environment that she hasn't been in before. I find it important for astronauts to practice in a environment similar to the planet their going to so they know what it feels like and they wont feel like its much of a new environment.

Mars rover explanation writing

Hi guy's! today in science we have been working on an explanation writing that explain's what a rover is and more about the rover. and we had to put a rhetorical question at the start (a rhetorical question is a question that you don't expect an answer to) . Here is my explanation writing and I hope you guys enjoy!.

Mars Rover

Have you ever thought of going to Mars?

A Rover is a robot prototype created and built by engineers who work with NASA.There were 100+ people helping and working on Perseverance.  The Mars Rover has an amount of body parts that help it do things like driving around, taking pictures, taking stuff from mars and getting them back on earth.Since the rover is going on Mars it will take a while to get back, the rover will come back in a few years. It will probably take a year to get back from Mars.The rover is taking pictures of Mars and sending them back to earth. The rover is also getting samples of dirt from Mars and it will be sending the samples back to earth, although it will take a long time to get the samples back from Mars. There are obviously some things that will go wrong, for example the rover can run out of fuel, The rover dies, and if the rover breaks it will take years to remake another rover
As you can see from these facts that you should know what the Rover Perseverance is doing and what a Rover is.

Healthy Life Style Is a Choice

Hi guys today in health we have to write some sentences on our blog explaining our understanding of how we can control our lifestyle. Here is my sentences hope you enjoy.

Having a healthy lifestyle is a choice, there are something that we can control in out lifestyle and somethings we cannot. We can't control things like Cancer, Heart Diseases, Mental illnesses, and ETC.
We can control what we eat, our sugar, or salt, and some other things.
My understanding of this is that you have a choice to have a healthy lifestyle and you can make your own decisions on what you want your lifestyle to look like, by making better choices with our lifestyle we can choose to have a better sleep scheduled, eating more healthier, maybe having a skin routine and other things. You have a choice if you want a healthy lifestyle or not if you don't want a healthy lifestyle you don't have to have one but its better if you do a  have a healthy one. Two things that I do to make my lifestyle healthy is that I eat vegetables everyday, and I also control keeping fit and being active.

Science Constellation

Hi guys today in science we made some constellations, the constellation I did was called Orion. People think that Orion looks like a warrior holding a shield. What we had to do is that we pinned it and yied string around here is what mine looks like.

Navigation In Space

Hi guys today we are doing some questions and some researching on space. There is some articles that we have to read articles and also watch some videos.

The solar system is a collection of a stars with planets going around it. What a star is, its just a ball of gas that is on fire. A Nebula is a giant cloud of gas in space some Nebula's come from the gas thrown by explosion of a dying star and also it forms stars. How stars die is that they expand and they explode, the explosion is called a supernova, although it takes millions of years for them to explode.There is no Up and Down in space. You can use stars to navigate but you need to know your constellations there are 6 constellations that you need to know here are there names Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Cassiopeia, Orion, Crux, and Centaurus. To use the stars to navigate there is a North Star, Southern Cross, The East and the West and once you found them you have to Determine your latitude Calculate you latitude and then you use your resources.  

Following Gold

Hi guys today we are doing reading I'm doing an activity about a poem called Following Gold, for the activity you have to write a paragraph about how you think the author is thinking, what feelings, and why I think he feels that way. Here is my work and what I think hope you enjoy!.

What I thought the author was intending is that he wanted to show how people felt during the time currency was paid in gold. In the start I think the person in the story was feeling unlucky and sad at same, near the end of the poem he felt lucky and excited. The reason why he was feeling sad and unlucky was because he didn't find any gold at that time, he then fell excited and lucky because he found some gold.

Music 200 word challenge

Hi guys today we did a 100 word challenge but a twist we listened to a music piece and we wrote a story, heres my story for the music.

Her feet danced on the ice. She twirled and spined.
The ice beneath her looked like a bunch of clouded crystals.
Her sapphire blue eyes looked like diamonds when the light shined on them.
The way her sparkly crystal blue dress waved in the wind it almost looked like the feathers of a bird while
it was
gliding in the air,
she had whitish blonde wavy hair that almost looked white whenever she went into the light.
She went right around the skating rink, she then did a magnificent edge jump she landed right on her feet.
People around her started clapping for her.
Her wavy hair bounced up and fell back down onto her back some of her hair framed the sides of her face.
Her legs stopped and started to spin on the spot.
Her dress was flying around her.
She got back up and she decided to do a salchow jump and slid her knees on the ice cold floor.
Her knees went red mainly because it was ice.
The song in the back was almost over.
She finished off her part with a lutz jump, the ice danced and it came to an end. It finished. 

100 Word Challenge - Snow

Hi guys today in Wananga we are doing an 100 word challenge the picture is snow people having dinner I will put the picture underneath my story so you guys can check it out.

On a snowy winter day there was a family of 3, a father named Blister, a mother named Carrot, and a son named Jill. The family were having a nice dinner, it was a peaceful dinner they were having until two young boys came along. The father Blister said to the son and the mother that they should go somewhere to hide. Carrot and Jill did what Blister said they proceeded to hide behind a tree. Just as they went behind the tree they heard two boys laughing. Jill popped his head out and saw his father on the ground.

Healthy Lifestyle - Getting enough sleep.

Hi guys today in health we are answer some questions and some things about sleep. This is a new activity from what we have been doing, here is my answer to these questions hope you enjoy reading this.
Teenagers need to get around 8 - 10 hours of sleep each night.
The time that I get up to get to school is usually 6:50 or 7:00, on average every night I go to sleep near 1:00 am, Since I wake up at 6:50 I would probably get 5 hours of sleep.
Quality of sleep - Here is some four ways you can help your body and get quality sleep,
1. If your going to bed late you can change it by going to sleep 30 minutes earlier and waking up 30 minutes earlier.
2. You can avoid games an hour before the time you go to sleep.
3.You should arrange or make a comfortable sleeping place
4. You should try to avoid eating food 1 or 2 hours before your bedtime.
It is important to get a good sleep each night because you can be tired during school time and have less energy while doing something.
