Science - Binary

HI guys today we did science, What we did in science today was learning about different types of communication. I was in a group with Carla, Casey, and Shanaya, my group was doing Binary Alphabet. We made flags out of paper and Popsicle sticks. We stuck the paper, we got a word and Casey and Shanaya shared a flag and sent me and Carla a word, the word they sent me was Snake. Me and Carla also sent  a word, the word we sent was Salamander. Salamander in Binary Alphabet ( that I was using was ) 1010011 1000001 1001100 1000001 1001101 1000001 1001110 1000100 1000101 1010010.

Science - Mars 2020 Rover

Hi guys today for science we have been doing research about Mars. We had a couple of questions on things about Mars and a few thing that we have learnt. Here is some of the things I had to answer. Hope you enjoy.

Perseverance is doing something that is hard but you keep on doing it until you achieve it.

The Mars Rover has something called Mars Environmental Dynamic Analyzer, It is basically a set of sensors that gives measurements of temperature, wind speed, and direction.

Mars Rover also is programmed Managed for Nasa’s science mission.

The Mars rover is launching on July the 30th. 

Some things that I learnt that I didn’t know about before is that I didn’t know that there was a rover going on Mars until last week when I was doing some research, I learnt what a Environmental Dynamic Analyzer is, it sounds very interesting and what it does is also interesting, and I also learnt what perseverance means.

Informative DLO - primary and Secondary Source

Hi guys today me and Carla made and Informative DLO on what the difference is of a Primary and a Secondary source. it is important to know what a primary and a secondary source is mainly because you can know the difference so when you need to study something for history you can look at primary sources so you can get better information because sometimes some secondary sources don't involve everything that is in a primary source. I say that Primary source is more trustworthy because it was made during the time the event happend.

100 Word Challenge

Hi guys today in Wananga we did a 100 word challenge, a 100 word challenge is when you have a picture and you have to write a story about it but it can only be 100 words it cant be one over or one under. It has to be 100, here is my 100 story challenge.

The sky is bright blue with clouds as fluffy as a pillow, there’s tall buildings and skyscrapers, but the thing is there is a zebra on a tightrope. The zebra has white and black stripes. The zebra doesn’t look phased by what he’s walking on. I don't think he has noticed, the zebra then notices that he's on a tightrope. The zebra whose name is strip is now panicking. Strips tries to go backwards but strips start to wobble. Strips starts walking very slowly forward, Strips is walking as slow as a snail. The zebra is almost at the end.

Six Photographs

Hi guys for reading we have been reading a book called Six Photographs, Six Photographs is a book about historical photos. After we finished reading the book all together we went on  a worksheet (On Chromebooks) and we had to put in some facts. Somethings we learnt was about Primary Sources and Secondary Sources, A Primary source can be a letter, Photograph, and also news papers that happen at the time of this event. A secondary Source is something that was written after the event the event could've happened in 1982 and a book could've been wrote in the 2000's and that would be a primary source. 

In the book there is photo's one of the photos was captured with heaps of people dressed up, the reason why they were dressed up was because Queen Victory was celebrating her sixtieth year ruling over the British Empire.

My final thoughts on this is that i'm getting more interested on what more there is about in history and what happened to get us here.

Mars Science

Hi guys today we are doing science. The science we are doing is about Mars. We had to read a book called Becoming a Martian. We have some questions to answer after we fully read the book.

A mission to mars (Or from mars) happen is that it would take 8 months to get their. Any possible mission to mars can only leave earth - or return from mars -. when the two planets are at their closest point in their orbits, it means that the first astronauts to mars will be gone for a long time. Two geological features of mars is that, Mars is known as the Red Planet because of its colour, Other features of Mars include Polar Ice Caps, Olympus Mons (the largest volcano in the solar system).A possible solution about oxygen, It takes a lot of energy though. You can use a Solar Panel that can make electricity from the sun, it would be hard though because mars has dust storms, which can last many months.It doesn't rain on mars so you cant really get water. A way you can get water on mars that you can drill deeper in the ground.People can get food on mars by growing plants on mars, They could also bring food but that will take to much space on ship.

Learning story - Art/Poetry

Hi guys for this week we have been doing some learning stories. Learning stories are basically reflections on what you did on the period(hurumanu) you are in. You have to write what you did,what you learnt, your next steps and ways you showed you Carr values. For this learning story this one is about Art/Poetry. All of us had to write these things in full sentences. Here is my learning story.

My Learning Story

Reflection: Give at least three examples in each of the boxes below.
What We Did:   We did a Diamante Poem. A Diamante Poem is a type of poem in the shape of a diamond and it has to have two different subjects.   We did some Watercolour and experimented on different types of textures. We did some drawing on some Maori patterns.
What I Learned:   I learned all different types of ways to do and types of watercolour like Salt, Drip, Splat, and blend.  I learnt how you add textures to things like add different types of paper and contrast. I learnt more about poems and all different types of them.
My Favourite Part:  My favourite part about art was that I got to watercolour and experiment with paint and salt.  My favourite other part is that we got to do some drawings/sketching My favourite other part is that we got to right a diamante poem and it was pretty fun learning about other types of art
My Next Steps:  My next steps would be learning about different types of poems and trying to do blackout poems  My next steps would be to be more focused on what I am doing. My next steps would to be experiment on different types of paints and what textures we could use

Paoer Boy The end.

Hi guys yesterday I finished reading paper boy. 

The ending was very interesting, I didn't think it would end like that but I did. In the end I liked the book it was enjoyably to read. Paper boy decides that he doesn't care on who his real father is. To me the book was weird at first because I didn't know what it was about but the more chapters I got up to I got more invested in it. I didn't understand at first because the first line of the book says "I'm talking about the stabbing for a good reason." I was confused but when I got deeper I understood because an actually stabbing happen's. I would read the book again if I had the time because I found my self getting lost in the thought of what was gonna happen next. 

Paper Boy Chapter 13 - 17 Summary

Hi guys today I finished reading chapters 13 - 17 and we have to write a summary here is my summary of a few main events that have happened.

Paper Boy went to ball field and got surprised by his coach because his coach called off practice because it was to hot. (it was going to be over hundred degrees.) All week Paper boy wanted to go back to Mr Spiro's house where the walls were filled with books. Paper Boy found both Mr Spiro's and Ara T's house frightening both for different reasons. Paper Boy was afraid of Mr Spiro's house because he didn't know that he could learn everything that was in those books, in Ara T's house he was scared because Ara T had mostly stolen everything in the neighbourhood. Paper Boy threw the ball and it go stuck near the roof. Paper Boy didn't like going inside after he got sweaty so he went and got a ladder. When he was climbing up the ladder he he saw the ball near his window. He didn't like to sleep while in the heat but the breeze coming through the window felt nice. He deiced that he wanted to have a nap. Paper Boy slept for a long time because Mam woke him up to go on his paper route. The newspapers truck came late. Most of the carries took off their shirts to keep cool. He goes to pick up his paper but one of the older carries name Willie takes his papers. Paperboy tells Willie that Willie has the wrong paper. Willie starts to make fun of his stuttering problem and calls Paperboy a "Retard". Willie stands up and gets his bike and starts biking off. Paperboy grabs a rock swings his arm back and almost throws the rock right in the back of Willies head. Instead Willie turns his head around. Paper boy doesn't throw the rock and only in a few seconds Willie falls over. A new day comes and Paper boy goes home walks into his room and sees every draw open even his money draw. He goes down stairs to tell mam. Mam gets angry and walk down stairs takes off her apron and goes outside. She tells Paper Boy to walk down then street. Mam walks down the alley way Ara T usually pushes his cart around. Paper Boy waits until he cant see Mam's head anymore. He starts to run to Mam. Mam Notices him and tells him that she told him not to follow her. Paper boy doesn't listen and goes with her, Mam lets him come. The walk to a strange town there's people outside on their coaches laughing and talking to each other while drink beer. Paper Boy and Mam reach a bright red house. Ara T's cart was outside. Mam told Paper boy to sit on the inside of Ara T's cart. Paper boy listened and went inside. It smelt horrible. Mam took a while so Paper Boy deiced's to go inside. Paper boy is inside and he sees Ara T holding Mam in a choke-hold while shes against the wall. There's people near him and their all watching. A guy tries and stops Ara T by hitting him with a chair but Ara T doesn't budge. Paper boy throws glass at Ara T. Ara T tries to kill Paper Boy by snapping his neck but Mam comes around and sees paper Boys yellow handled knife and stabs him in the arm.
