EOTC Week - Margaret Mahy

 Hi guys today in Wananga we did a task for EOTC week, EOTC week is when  you have some trips. You had to chose an activity and do it for one of the places you were going. The task i chose was to make a biography for Margaret Mahy. Here it is and I hope you guys enjoy.

Facts about Margaret Mahy

  • She wrote 100 picture books, 40 novels, and a collection of short books.

  • The park Magaret Mahy was named after her to honour her after she died.

  • Margaret Mahy’s first book was “A Lion in the Meadow”


Margarey Mahy was a New Zealand author who grew up in a town named Whakatane.

She wrote books for young adults and children. She went to Whakatane High School,

University of Canterbury, and The University of Auckland.


Margaret Mahy died in 2012 because of cancer at the age of 76.

She started writing at the age of 18. She then trained as a librarian and then worked at School Library

Service in Christchurch in 1967.  Later in 1980 she became a full time writer.

How she creates characters is that she thinks about things that she does all the time like driving,

Gardening, Shopping. Sometimes when she’s writing she used to think it became more interesting than

real life.
