Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Hi today and yesterday we watched and wrote answer to questions on a sheet. I am writing my answer out on here so you go. Hope you enjoy!.


¬ Te Tririti o Waitangi ¬

1. The Maori population in the late 1830's was 70,000 - 80,000
2.  The two main reasons for drop in the population was war + disease.
3. The main settlement in Aotearoa New Zealand at this time was Koreiacacekoa - Bay of Islands.
4. The Rangatira and missionaries were unhappy with things that were happening in the town because The British were taking over, Partying, Prostitution, and unfair trade.
5.  In the 1833 war helped to resolve the situation.
6.  The British saw France as a threat because they wanted to take land.
7. Edward Wakefield set up The New Zealand Company.
8. 500 Rangatira from around the world signed the treaty.
9. The problem with the treaty was because the English was different to the Maori.
10. Tino Rangatiratanga is having your own authority.
11. Sovereignty means having power.
12. Hine hekeshowed his frustration for what was happeing in the north he cut down the flag pole 3 times.
13. The Maori used all different kinds of methods to beat the British in northen water by using underground bunkers, Log trenches, Gorila warefare

  1. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi Alexia. Your sentences are informative and your spelling is mostly correct. You have said that 500 Rangatira from around the world signed the treaty, but they were from around Aotearoa/New Zealand. You could also use capitals and spell Hone Heke correctly. I look forward to reading more of your blog posts as you share our country's history.
