The Bullet - Reading

For a few days ago we are doing reading. We got to choose what to read out of 4 books. I choose a book called The Bullet. We had some questions and a task after to do.

Samoan Language Week

Today we watched a video on how to make and Umu. We also have to answer some questions so here they are.

An Umu is an above ground oven. It is used for cooking things. It is usually wrapped in banana leaves.
Traditional Samoan skills are probably taught from their parents.
I have experienced something similar to a Umu. Its called a Hangi. A Hangi is underground and the food is cooked in a pit.
Types of food cooked in Umu's are Fish (seafood), Pork, Taro, Bananas, Vegetables

Haiku Poem

Today we are learning about Haiku poems. I have already done a Haiku poem before so this wasn't that hard. Today we get to choose what the Haiku poem is about. I am deciding to make a Haiku poem about the ocean. A haiku poem has a pattern of syllables. 5 7 5.

The Ocean

The waves crash on rocks.

The ocean looks like a blue crystal 

The ocean foam is floating

The Creation Of Tuna

Today we are working on arts. The art we are doing is poetry. Today we watched a video on The Creation Of Tuna. After we watched the video we have to answer some questions.

The problem Tuna o Runga I te Raki had was that he was born in the heavens but the heaven he was born in was to close to the sun. It was very hot and dry.
A Tipua is something that looks supernatural. 
A Hinaki is a trap that Maoris used to catch tuna.
A Tuna is a type of fish.
The art of the book and the video are very different. In the book the people are shaded black. In the video they are details. The book looks like it was painted, while the video makes it look like a rough sketch on a digital device.
I say I would prefer the art style on the video. My reasoning for this is because the details on it look nice. I also like the little animations that they had.

Sadako And The Thousand Paper Cranes

Today we watched a video named "Sadako and the Thousand paper cranes". We have to answer some questions.

The girl in the video is named Sadako.
I think shes in heaven. I think shes in heaven because later on in the animation it has a little memorial of her.
I think she got there because she died.
I think she feels sad. She felt happy when she was riding a paper crane, but she was sad when she found out where she was and when she saw a house.
A paper crane represents the good.
Four facts about Sadako -
Sadako was an 11 year old girl living in Hiroshima.
Sadako got leukemia after a atomic bomb that dropped. ( The atomic bomb caused the leukemia )
Sadako died October 25, 1955 when she was 12.
Sadako folded over 1,300 paper cranes while she was in the hospital.
The CARR values I think Sadako showed while making paper cranes  is commitment, respect, and resilience.   
If I could choose a symbol of hope for the world in 2020 I think I would choose the Peace Sign.

Writing

Today and for a few weeks and wile we were in isolation. We have been doing a writing slide. The one we are writing are a movie. We could choose out of Horror, Fantasy, or Action. I choose Horror. I have been doing writing my story.

here is some of my work that i have been doing  i haven't finished yet.

BRIIIIING. 

The bell echoed through the school building. Callie, Ray, and Shiloh were in Art Class. Their next class was history. Ray and Shiloh start packing up their things while Callie just sits in her chair. Ray walks over to Shiloh’s desk. “Well.. are we heading to art?”. “Huh? Oh yeah i’ll meet you in the hallway”. “Alright.”. Ray turned around and walked away. Shiloh is wondering what Callie is doing. Callie is usually the first one to get up and walk to the next class. Mr. Danil didn’t give her detention he didn’t tell her to meet him after class either… Shiloh stood up and decided not to talk to Callie. She was mean to her anyway. Shiloh opened the door and headed out. She saw Ray all the way in front of her. She took this as an advantage. She snuck up behind him and… WHAM. She smacked him on the back of his head. “OW”. He went down to his knees and put his hands where she smacked him. Shiloh started giggling. Ray and Shiloh had this weird friend relationship whenever they had the chance they would smack each other no matter how hard it hurt they would do it. They found it fun.  They found their way to art class. Ray opened the door. Only a few other kids were there. Ray and Shiloh walked to their desks. Their desks were on the opposite sides of the room. The reason for that was because they would talk to each other all the time. The teacher wouldn’t find this a problem if they weren’t good or weren’t interested in art. Ray and Shiloh had some talents in art. Shiloh sketching and Ray painting. 

Their teacher Miss. Smith was talented in a lot of art like Painting, Sketching, and sowing. Today they were painting a famous landscape

Poem - The Book Of The Road

When it was Term 1 we got this box called "Book Of The Road".  For one of the activity's we are doing is writing a 6-line poem. Why we are writing these poems are because we are sending these to our buddy class. 

New Expectations

Hi guys today and yesterday we were working on a DLO about the New Expectations in respect ( for the coronavirus ). You could work with someone or do the work alone. I deiced to work with Shanaya. Me and Shanaya worked on a DLO. Here is the work I hope you like it.

Drawing

During the week i have been drawing. I drew a scene form Alice in Wonderland.
I used a couple of colored pencils. A mechanical pencil, and Pigment Liner.
This took only an hour + Colouring.  I drew Alice in Wonderland because I really like it. I tried other scenes but they didn't really work out. This is the one that worked out and i'm kinda proud of it.

Reading

This week we did some reading some books. You could choose what book you could read. I deiced to red Pandemic. Pandemic is a book about a pandemic that happened in 1918. The pandemic was world wide. It killed 50 million people. You would choose an activity do to for the book. I choose to make a DLO from the facts that i learnt from the book

Writing

For writing we are writing a movie. You could choose out of three genres. The genres were Horror, Fantasy, or Action/Adventure. I choose Horror because Horror is one of my favorite genres to read. 
You had to make Characters, Settings, Plot, and the story.  There was also a word bank. I have finished my word bank and a few other things on the slide. I will be showing what I have finished.
